UKAS Accreditation for upgraded facilities for testing the effectiveness of protective clothing

IOM's UKAS accredited test booth
The IOM has tested the efficiency of protective clothing for manufacturers and major users for many years. We have recently installed a new test booth in our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) test facility. This test booth will enable us to test the performance of protective clothing against a spray and/or mist of chemicals to the specifications of ISO/DIS 17491-4 for types 4 and 6 garments.
Testing is included in the PPE test facility's UKAS accreditation schedule.
This new service will run alongside the IOM's long established service for testing of protective clothing against airborne solid particulates (type 5 garments).
Test results provide manufacturers and users with ongoing reassurance of continued product quality and good performance. This can be of particular value where suit manufacture has been outsourced.
Readers may also be interested to note that the IOM also holds UKAS accreditation for respirator face-fit testing.
